The Intro

I've decided to create this website as a journal, a diary, a place to look both backwards and forwards at the music I've had the luck to find and enjoy.  A place where if the magic of the internet saves it I can come back years later and remember.  Hopefully a place where the people who find it can find and enjoy those same things.

Of course every story needs a beginning, but where to chose.  It could have been when I was 9 and found dad's old tapes and 8 tracks.  But young me didn't really know what he was looking for other than it seemed cool to listen to "dad's"music.  It could have been from when I was into my teens and our basic cable had MuchMusic added to it, when they still played music.  But there were playing music for the masses, and much of it wasn't/isn't for me.

The time I've chosen is a small show I saw in a dingy basement (called The Basement) that a friend of mine told me I should got to.  We paid $5 cover, the guy at the door was upset I paid with a $20 and ruined his cash float, and watched 4 forgettable bands.  And then came Filmmaker, the band we were there to see, and the rocked.

I was sure they were going to be the next big thing, and I would have a story of how I had been there in that basement.  I saw them one more time, playing a short opening set, and then they broke up.  I had skipped a third opportunity to see them, and still kick myself.  A lesson repeated if not learned, "never pass up the chance to see good live music."  The lead singer, and at least one other member, have since formed another band, and then another when that one split.  They now are starting to gain success as Library Voices, but to me they'll always be Filmmaker.

This is a video I've found on youtube, not as easy as you'd think since its been about 10 years, they never were that famous, and the name Filmmaker conflicts with basically 50% of everything else on youtube.
